There is not any acceptable reason why we don't turn out skilled welders, mechanics, programmers, carpenters, right out of High School. When I went to High School we had an awesome metal shop, auto shop, wood shop, and more. It is silly that they don't offer a program for more kids that do not plan on going on to college that would give them a tech degree. I could not agree more. However, not everybody can afford it. It is sad that job security requires a PhD. Not everyone can be a doctor. Furthermore, the medical field does not appeal to everybody.
